Mornin' TAY!
Got a lot less gaming done over the weekend than I'd hoped to do, but DID manage to eat a crapload of tasty food, and catch up on all the cleaning and work around the house I needed to do, so that's a plus. I also found out the next multi update to ME3 will have a tonne of Earth content, which might help make up for the lack of it in the campaign...
Gunna give LotR Online a look tonight, and possibly a play, depending on....stuff.
Morning Rize!
Morning Doc!
Morning people-who-went-to-meats-that-I-wish-I-could-have-attended!
MORNING RIZE AND DOC!
*waves*
"Morning rise" heh!
MORNING. I LIKE IT WHEN YOU TALKED ABOUT FOOD
Weekend foods included:
Craploads of bacon.
Oh, and an awesome paella.
NONSENSICAL MEAT POST!!!
STRANGE!!!
We gossiped?
Did I start it?
I started it didn't I...
Also your food, holy crap. Sooooooooooooo amazing.
The rest who were there, good times.
Sorry for being so radical.
Noob, you're alright.
Sughly, you're garbage.
Love,
Dan
P.S. Sooooooooooooooo much of that evening I have no recollection of. I keep finding tweets & photos on my phone that kinda fill in the blanks, like Sughly pointing at a Ute's back window and an unposted Tweet of Frejyr & Trjn playing Rock Band with their serious faces on.
P.P.S Next time we do this, we'll order that metre pizza.
We're going to need about three times as many people if we're going to try to eat that metre pizza.
DAN!
I APRECIATE YOU (and the others) WALKING ME THROUGH THE
RapeBridge / Park!Let's order it in December.
Pez's birthday bash was the SHIT!
Much groping of my manly beard.
Many shots.
I got a beer in a brown paper bag and pretended to be a drunk hobo.
The next day I bought this: https://p.twimg.com/AvAM3EsCAAAgfae.jpg:large (hope that works)
On Monday I finished of Dragon's Age II (AT LAST) and played Dungeon Defenders on PS3.
I have always wanted to try the brown paper bag thing and keep on swigging from a bottle of milk.
OH!
So you were the drunk hobo hanging around us.
That explains so much.
WHERE FROM!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I NEED THAT VERSION!!!!!!!
JB Hi-FI!
Finally finished off a collection that started 10 years ago!
https://p.twimg.com/AvAlnUgCQAAe2oA.jpg:large
HNNNNNNNGHHH!!!
I need them all.
Hi Gentleman What?!
Just don't read aloud from that thing....
Now that I've finished ME3 should I start Dragon Age II as my 360 game? I played for about half an hour once but that was it.
It took me a while to finish. TH estory is interesting. A lot of intrigue and events get set in motion which lead towards a war starting which is kinda cool.
Ultimately, I miss the Darkspawn and the threat of the blight. Also, I prefer my Warden to FemHawke.
I felt like DAII was a bit of a slog. In the end, I finished the game rather than do all the sub quests I still had to do.
DA2 was interesting, but the thoroughly recycled environments was frustrating after only a short while. Still worth playing, though.
I sort of liked how it didn't really focus on the Darkspawn. The Darkspawn are cool and all but they're very typical bad guys who are evil for no other reason then they are evil. I liked how DA2 was less about things being evil and more about people having different views on certain subjects.
One thing I did like about DAII is that the main focus seemed to be on character/party interaction. If you blow through the main story, you'd get none of that, so patient players are rewarded with a better game
Hmmm, DAII was okay, but it had so little to do with the original DA:O that it almost feels like a story taking place in another universe. The combat was okay, but well dumbed down. The story was okay, but at times, you really have to go digging for the best bits. If you're achievement hunting, be prepared to see the same places over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.
Could have been an awesome game if they didn't rush it out the door
Reading /r/starcraft after MLG is always fun. There's a thread up talking about how Socke (decent but not great German Protoss player) was the only person to beat DRG (this MLG's champ and probably the best Zerg player going around right now) this whole weekend.
Top comment is a guy saying that he was derping around at another tournament looking lost, Socke picked him out of the crowd and said "do you want to get really drunk with me?" They hung out all weekend, getting hammered and whatnot. Socke sounds like a pretty awesome dude because of this but it gets better once you see the picture of the two together (Socke on the right).
Pretty much a perfect match, no?
Barbarians! *swoon*
I watched the first episode of Dollhouse last night. It was good but it didn't feel very Whedonesque. It was all super dark and serious and there were no jokes.
Also, lotro is currently patching. Is that playdate still happening tonight? What time is it starting? What server are we rolling on? Are we all going to play the same race so we're together from the start?
Now you should skip to the second season....
Which doesn't make sense without the second half of the first season...
Actually, it still doesn't make sense but it comes closer to resembling sense.
The first six episodes are pretty shit. You have to endure quite a lot of stuff that feels like executive meddling before you get to the Whedonesque moments (the start of season 2 with Whiskey and Topher is so incredibly Whedon). Not necessarily worth the hassle, but the payoff for some of the stuff they set up during the terrible moments is rather nice.
Season 2, episode 4 (I think it's called Belonging) is probably the entire reason to watch that show.
As a sidenote, Eliza Dushku really sucks.
She really does. Especially in that singing/dancing episode...the third one I think? That was so very awful.
OMG I AGREE SHE CANNOT SING
Don't you ever say anything bad about her. I love her! With love hearts and everything!
Also Dollhouse is pretty good. I enjoyed it, first few episodes were a bit slow.
There'd be positives to being whatever race you want, but it depends on how long it would take to get together. Doing that WOULD give people the option to learn the game at their own pace, but obviously getting together quick would be good too.
I suppose we could all go dwarves, and just act really, really racist towards other non-dwarf characters...
Unfortunately, the season 1 storyline is full of holes, another Whedon tradition. Inconsistency didn't matter so much in Buffy or Angel, where the characters and metaphors were the important elements. But in Dollhouse, when the story is serious and is basically front and centre, it was unforgivable in my book. Never watched season 2.
You're a holist! I bet you don't like swiss cheese, either! :P
As I said, I can forgive it when the plot isn't the main focus :P
And I love swiss cheese... .as long as it's already melted and I can't find any holes.
This is one of those comments I need a favourite/like/upvote button for. :D
@shane re cover:
Too much colour.
I vote for washing out all colour to very faded, except for the lady - leave her full colour.
Thanks man, and thanks everyone for your comments. I'll do some playing with it, and see what I can come up with. Currently learning the ropes with some new elements of this software.
I think the cover is looking good, I like the overall concept of it. Now that the niceties are out of the way (just didn't want you to think I hated it) on to the criticism.
Minor detail but where the staff looks like it should be imbedded in the ground it looks more like it is floating
The centre of the staff looks too bright to me, or if it is supposed to be the centre point the secondary light beneath it looks strange.
Maybe the pattern of glow around it should be the same the light, not brighter at the bottom .
Also I agree with Strange, maybe it is due to the lack of depth in the background but if you look at the knight guy their is a very clear distinction between him and the sky behind. It looks like he was stuck onto a back drop rather than existing within the scene.
I also don't like the blue blur behind/around the letters, just seems to almost clash with the tree. Either make it clearer that that is part of the text or leave it off. Or it could just be my personal preference.
Watching the Starcraft 2 new expansion gameplay:
http://www.kotaku.com.au/2012/06/watch-starcraft-ii-heart-of-the-swarms-upgraded-protoss-and-zerg-units-duke-it-out/
Finally! An actual count of how many workers on each nexus! :')
Blizzard had a huge setup of demo stations for Heart of the Swarm at MLG this weekend and some of the dead air (at least during Day 1, when I actually got to watch) was eaten up by showing matches like this. Fairly sure they covered all match-ups except mirrors with games that were setup to show early, mid and late game changes.
Dat Mothership Core. Dat Hydra buff.
I'm pretty keen.
It's too bad I probably won't get it though, I just haven't picked up Starcraft 2 again for a long time
I've noticed the majority of people I know that were really keen on it when it came out have all kind of drifted away from it. Are people getting over it, or just keen for new content?
I mainly got Starcraft 2 to see what the fuss is all about but stayed longer for the custom maps too, which are all awesome
In my case, I played over 1000 Starcraft 2 games, I beat the campaign three times(though I was always too slack to actually finish my Brutal playthrough), and I wasn't really talking to people who were playing it.
So, she and I just separated. It's still fun, so long as I'm playing with people, but I rarely get a chance to do that.
There's a huge time investment needed to get to the point where you feel like you can play with other people and even then there is a lot to do. Very easy to get intimidated and simply decide to not play.
Starcraft: Brood War has an amazing reputation for being a very good game but most people (myself included at one point) simply didn't understand how mentally involved RTS games are. Multi-tasking is rather difficult to master.
Hearing about online Starcraft is like hearing a scary story about going through a haunted park. Most people would end up never going near said park. Me included
Bronze league is full of one base turtles and the dumbest attempts at cheese you'll ever see. Really, it's more like off milk than cheese.
Stepping into that level of play isn't that difficult. You just have to be willing to expand and attack. Things are intimidating because they kind of expect to be playing people above that level. People who have actual build orders or some idea about how to win a game instead of just trying not to lose.
It's all a bit odd.
Well I can't beat any AI above Medium sadly, I'm always too slow in getting something up and ready in time before the first attack. I think my main issue is consistency with multitasking. While I focus on one thing, another deteriorates.
All this RTS talk makes me think I'll probably get back into online DoW:DC at some point soon...
Hah I'd be up for that maybe, for the greater good with my dark armies or with the necrons whom I adore!
A lot of people are like that. If you want to try playing, I can give you a hand over TS. Just sit in your base and focus on probes and pylons. Probes and pylons. Probes and pylons.
Do that a few times and then move on to production buildings and managing production cycles. Focusing on one thing until you don't have to think about it as much in order to do it at all really helps.
I'm still terrible when it comes to missing probes and getting supply blocked but definitely doing well enough to beat Hard/Very Hard AI simply by having strong enough macro to survive the initial assault then counter-push for the win.
I do really want to get into RTS to get my mind working a little better. Sure LoL is good at that too to a point but when things go wrong, stress levels rise again so I want more choice on what I could play if I need to take a break from one game :P
So, i have been wasting too much time in minecraft and have been incredibly unproductive the last couple of days.
I'm still trying to do sewing and such, but I find myself on Minecraft way too much and half the time I'm just standing there deciding what to do next
You on a server somewhere or alone? I've been looking for peoples to do projects with in minecraft :P
TAY server. And it's more of a what to I build on my "thing" next. I'm currently working on a guest room, but I'm always happy to work on other things too.
Is this cakesmith's server? Last time I was there it all ended in lava
Well it has got a little better. There are still just as many penis' (if not, more) but less lava killing everyone.
(Assuming you've been playing on the server...) Have you been exploring? There's some creations way away from the main town. There's paths to most of them, though!
I've seen Gorzy's place, Blaghman's, Bish's and Nobs.
Man, how good is that tree village, right.
You've picked a most spledid place to build.
Eh, it's alright. If you're into that kind of thing.
HI SCREE!!!
Hey tay...
Waddup?
Something of mine. If you know what I mean. Wink.
Wink.
I mean my ceiling, to clarify.
Oi, before you leave: get to downloading Lord of the Rings Online. It's F2P on Steam, and a bunch of us are gunna give it a whirl.
Rightio sounds awesome... Will start downloading when I get home
It's 15GB...I hope your net is working :D
Ha... Haha... Define working? :P
Good Morning TAY.
Diablo talks:
Finally cracked the 20k damage mark on my Witch Doctor, then read the pre-patch notes this morning. The incoming IAS nerf is going to hurt, but changes to elite packs mean I can just farm earl y Act 1 stuff without really needing to progress into Act 2.
Pokemon talks:
Oh man. I don't know whether I'm surprised at how much the meta has changed after a year, or by how much it has stayed the same. I'll make sure I register an account name so I can take part in battling funsies.
Kickstarter talks:
OMG. Gaben in the Neal Stephenson sword-fighting kickstarter.
That IAS nerf is going to destroy so many Life on Hit builds for Monks. Deadly Reach (with Keen Eye runes) is necessary for a lot of Monks to be tanky enough. Without enough attack speed, they have very little damage output using that and can't generate enough spirit to do much else either.
Then again, I'm still at the 5.5k damage mark at level 55/56.
Wait? They are nerfing monks AGAIN!?
Attack speed is being dropped slightly. I exaggerated but it will make a difference to Life on Hit and Deadly Reach builds.
@Poketalk: I wouldn't get too worried about re-learning everything, I think we'll just be playing for fun. Random battles seem to be the most popular choice (at first, anyway. Depends how into it we get I suppose xD)
I was more worried that I'm already getting back into the swing of things and I'd be playing too serious for the rest of you and become a big old fun ruiner. Sounds like I am already being too serious (spent a chunk of time on Saturday plotting out some team mockups and working on some counters for common picks - particularly DrizzleToed and DroughtTales, but also stuff like Shell Smash Cloyster, which is new to me) so I'm happy to just play random teams.
Don't worry, I was actually looking up all that sort of stuff as well (though admittedly for the first time xD). What a coincidence that you mention Shell Smash Cloyster though, because I made a Cloyster using that move for my team of 'Pokemon with interesting abilities' (not really for anything, just for fun :P).
Shell Smash
Razor Shell
Protect
You probably don't even need a fourth move.
Although Water Absorb/Dry Skin counters pretty well. Toxicroak gets STAB on Fighting, which is effective vs Ice. It's the "best" counter that comes to mind. I'd assume Ice Shard goes in 4th slot, so Water Absorb Lapras would be a good Bulky Water to pretty much wall/sponge Cloyster and force a switch.
Geez, I think I might have just hit the 10k damage mark, although I might be just below it.
As it currently stands, I have... a few problems with the Act 1 elites. But, at least the attack speed nerf won't affect me in the slightest...
If anything, the IAS nerf is a buff for Wizards.
I'm levelling new heroes as well, will decide between Barb and Wizard to push to 60 first. It'll probably be the Wizard, since I can offload gear from the WD.
THAT WAS GABEN!!!
i was like "that guy looks so freaking familiar..."
Yup! I bet he's going to use the CLANG API for full motion-controls integrated into crowbar fighting for HL2:E3!
Hey Shane, can I buy both Lesser Evil books directly from you? I've had some really long delays with Fishpond when the books come from a USA supplier.
Do you have a paypal or something? DM me on twitter, if so.
I have another meat write-up. Shorter this time, though! I like recounting this stuff for some reason.
~~~
Weekend at Pez’s 2: The Baconing
Not really a proper write-up, but a highlight reel of the memorable moments from the weekend, hopefully in chronological order! P.S. this was my first ever night of drinking in the city. I’m a very inexperienced youth. It didn’t disappoint, though.
-We begin in Kinokuniya and people slowly file in. A few people buy stuff and I manage to stop myself from joining them.
-Beer cafe! Most people order litre beers but I, being young and inexperienced, only get a half litre. I feel very inadequate once the waitress brings all the drinks over.
-Bish starts a thing wherein he periodically demands that people with their phones out tell Strange he says hello. I dunno why.
-The two best birthday presents are given to Pez by Heather and Hollie: 1) a Guess Who game featuring a variety of TAYbies in place of the normal characters (http://t.co/QuNjUiw9), and 2) this, um, really interesting picture (I don’t have a link!)
-Shiggy and I play the Guess Who game while we wait for food. My character was Pez, his was me. He won because he kept stealing all my questions. I am really bad at games.
-Harli and #35 scheme to buy a metre of shots for Pez, opting for the ones with the highest alcohol percentage. This place brings out shots on a metre long stick and they ring a cowbell too for some reason. Everytime it rings we get more anxious until they finally show up and Pez downs four of them in the span of two or three minutes. Initially Harli is like ‘no slow down you’ll die’ but then she just starts yelling ‘hurry up damnit’ at him.
-Half the table takes picture of their food. It’s pretty exciting.
-Lots of shots later, our bill comes out at $610. A lot of that was alcohol.
-#35 acts as our navigation system and leads us through the streets to a dark alleyway. I’m sure somebody said ‘oh god we’re gonna die’ at this point. Maybe it was me. But the bar in the alleyway had a queue and standing around is for losers, so we went elsewhere.
-Quote of the night; Me: “I only had a half litre one, so I’m good”, Hollie: “I had a hernia once!” There’s context to this but it was still hilarious to me, so shh.
-The next place was behind an art gallery or something, and the bouncer was just like ‘hey guys go on in!’ I thought bouncers were meant to be all angry and such. The bar is really poorly lit and everyone stumbles around for a bit. I’d say it was a very...modern place, others might consider it hipster or something. But it was pretty cool.
-Bish has alcohol! I’ve never seen that before.
-Pez is still drinking, which is kinda scary.
-Ladies love the Doc What beard. Fellas, take note.
-Also, his beer comes in a brown paper bag. Hobo Doc What! They still love the beard.
-Eventually we steal a booth. We are like How I Met Your Mother if it was filmed in near darkness.
-General note: I got in some really nice one-on-one conversations with most people over the course of the night (but mostly in this bar). Thanks for the good talks, everyone! Nice to get to know you all better.
-Midnight comes and the bar closes so we wander around for somewhere else. #35 leads us in a semicircle to nowhere, but it was good because some people needed the fresh air. Pez stumbles around so Bish has to start steering him sometimes.
-Random note: I’d describe #35 as kind of stoic (not a bad thing!), he’s the cool guy who keeps a straight face all the time. So it was amazing when he lit up like a Christmas tree and started beaming and dancing around after Harli told him he looked like the Doctor.
-FISH BIKES. They’re bikes...but they’re dressed up and covered to look like glowing coloured fish. I named the blue one Billy. He got separated from the pack. Poor Billy.
-I don’t remember the name of the next place because I didn’t go inside – some of us split off for 1am Hungry Jacks. I was hungry, but then as soon as we sat down I stopped feeling hungry, so I nibbled on some chips and stared into the distance. Pez was really winding down at that point.
-Those of us crashing at Pez’s take taxis there – side note: I don’t know how I should feel for taxi drivers who listen to 2am drunk passenger conversations. Ours was about boob and beard hierarchies.
-Pez has a table in his apartment now. Swanky.
-Inflatable beds! Bish sleeps cramped up in a corner on the floor. We crash pretty quickly, although we do sneak in some dumb conversation that makes everything seem like a high school camping trip or sleepover.
-Shiggy snores. Usually that makes it hard for me to get to sleep but alcohol helps to solve that problem (is there anything alcohol can’t do?). Also, inflatable beds are very loud things, and they deflate too quickly.
-It’s about 10am when we wake up. Bish has covered his face with his jacket, still sleeping, or maybe just pretending. The instant someone mentions food, he sits up (jacket still over head), says ‘who said something about breakfast?’, goes to wash his face, and heads into the kitchen to start cooking. I dunno what is up with this guy.
-Samurai Power Rangers is a terrible show.
-Nobody is good at Trials.
-Bish takes bread, bacon and eggs and turns it all into a great breakfast. Kudos to that guy.
-We watched some Haruhi Suzumiya. Pez, still slightly out of it, had no idea what was happening.
-Everyone left at about 1pm or so.
-None of us visitors got bed bug bites. As far as I know, anyway.
That went much longer than intended.
~~~
Anyway, I hope everyone else had a great long weekend (or normal weekend if you didn't get the public holiday). It sounds like the folks at the Bunny meat had a good time, too.
Come to think of it, I didn't really get to play any games.
It's quite scary to see TAY so quiet on a Monday, by the way!
I'm still waiting for my breakfast, Bish.
I don't know, with the dinner you had on Saturday, I'm pretty sure that's all the food you'll ever need in the next 16 years.
Wouldn't want you to get tubby, hey?
Fair call. I'm on a slippery slope.
This is shorter?!
Hahaha!
Yeah, about that...
So that's the Guess Who thing people were talking about.
Which I didn't make it in. After 2 years of being on TAY, two weeks away from it is all I need to be forgotten ;(
^who's this stranger?
sorry. needed to be said :p
/CHOKED SOB
nice write up Mr Pants!
was indeed a great night & I do indeed look forward to the next one.
dammit. double use of indeed. what a stupid sentence.
Indeed.
THANKS BISH
I'M HERE TO BACK YOU UP, BUDDY!
ALWAYS BISHING. WHAT A GUY!
Bish is the best at bishing. Nobody bishes like Bish.
Fun!
Though maybe I should be concerned that I wasn't really feeling like "Man I missed out!" until you mentioned you started watching Haruhi. Man I missed out! haha I need some priorities...
I'm going to have to make a real effort to get to this Canberra meat, now. Damn you fun people.
Shiggy and Doc,
You both get 1000000+ internets for using a The Emperor's New Groove reference in Potaku episode 2.
Glorious.
Dammit - I was meant to listen to Potaku #2 last night! Damn!
It's the song that pops into my head whenever i hear that it's someone's birthday!
So... I started playing Saints Row III
Expected to plow through it. Get it done and dusted so I was fresh and commitment free for the onslaught of new releases.
... I got a little sidetracked
Also, saw my local GAME yesterday, all boarded up. Pretty sad.
It's pretty scary to see how quickly they shut down. Although I'm sure the EB that was right around the corner from my old local GAME is probably having parties about it all.
Even though I've only ever bought two games from GAME (and one of those was from the website), it is a shame.
I'm still not sure what's going on around Canberra. The Queanbeyan one has closed and the Hyperdome one is open, but I could have sworn it was the other way around when they released the list of stores closing...
My local GAME is doing that 40% sale thing. I was weeping at the sight of it. I was also buying a bunch of cheap games.
Welcome to Saints Row!
Was it anything in particular that sidetracked you, or did you just go on a rampage?
I have no idea...
I like flying around in a chopper.
I managed too knock over a chunk of the story. I've scored the power plant and brothel and upgraded them. Not sure how far in that is.
Bahaha!
Further than me, man. I don't have the power plant. I'm pretty sure I'm close though. Granted, I've emptied out nearly two of the three islands in terms of activities and purchases. I'm most of the way through the collectables, too.
If I wasn't determined to finish the game fairly quickly I would be in the same situation as you.
I start cruising for collectables and stuff and then have to remind myself to get back on track.
Also, Level 4(?) Shepherd pistols are badass.
I really should go back to that game. I think I only got as far as taking over that first 'crib'.
Morning TAY. Yay for short weeks.
http://www.indiegogo.com/bearlovegood
This is awesome. Theoatmeal is awesome!!! Go support it.
Also I finished Max Payne 3 on the weekend. It was enjoyable.
I was just reading the article, i chipped in, pretty amazing stuff. I have always liked their comics.
Man, this server update needs to freakin' hurry up. I'm hungry...
Brissy Meat write up.
I arrived at Trjn's at 1:50. Trjn was in the kitchen with some lady who I first assumed was either his girlfriend or one of his housemates...turned out it was Freyr xD
After we were properly introduced, Freyr sort of implied that I look like a girl. Not really though, she just said she's amazed how much I look like my avatar even though my avatar is a female. :P
Trjn and Freyr were making fairy bread. A whole loaf of it. We ended up with two really high stacked plates of the stuff. On the table was Trjn's laptop with MLG(?) on it. After the fairy bread was made, Freyr, Trjn, Trjn's laptop and I migrated to the lounge room, where we watched the second half of Star Wars Episode V. Apparently Freyr had never seen the star wars movies before, so Trjn was making her watch them. So there we sat, watching Star Wars and eating fairy bread, except for Trjn and his laptop who watched MLG.
Towards the end of the film, Nobshot showed up! After introductions were complete, Nobshot joined me, Freyr, Trjn and Trjn's laptop in watching things and eating fairy bread, except Trjn's laptop didn't eat any fairy bread because, well, it's a laptop.
After the movie had finished, we got out trials evolution. We turned bailout finish on, so there were a lot of flying riders at the end of the tracks. Some of them didn't make it though. They just laid there, trying to wiggle their way to the finish line.
And suddenly, DAN! showed up! And TheLastQuestion too!
And then we tried playing custom tracks. And we learnt we should probably read the track descriptions and ignore the user ratings. We tried this one track with heaps of loops in the sky, but that ended up in a horrendous mess. It was really buggy. I think we even ended up with all of us crashed, and it wouldn't go back to the last checkpoint. Turns out the discription said that it was a track for testing out making different things, and the guy had abandoned it...it had a user rating of 4 stars.
And then Dan convinced us to play gigacross, the gigatrack of multiplayer. That took us about 15 mins to finish. For some reason Trjn ended up far behind, practically offscreen at each checkpoint. And I was far in front. And whenever I tried slowing down and waiting for him to catch up, I kept 'crashing' even though my dude was completely upright and not colliding with anything :/
Dan got bored soon after. So we stopped playing trials and started playing rockband. There was no Barbie Girl! /o\ So I had to sing Lady Gaga's Poker Face instead. I only sang it once though. Sometime around this time Strange showed up, and then welbot a bit later, then sughly a bit later still. (am I forgetting anyone?)
We kept playing rockband, and then some people went out to get the food. A short while later, those people returned with the food. So then we ate. Most people ate the ribs, and Dan and I, the weak armed vegetarians, ate the food strange had brought. And yes Strange, you were right. I was just being polite. The food was disgusting. JUST KIDDING! It was delicious. :D
Afterwards, we went back to rockband. At one stage there I was playing both the bass and singing at the same time. Sughly was holding the mic for me, but he kept smacking me in the face with it. I got a score of 98% though. 74% for the bass and 24% for the singing :P
I also sang Bohemian Rhapsody, which Sughly decided he'd try to mess up. "Hey lambo, do you want to die?" *me singing* "I don't want to die!" things like that. I got revenge in the ending though, "Sughly is an idiot, that is plain to see. Sughly is an idiot...Sughly is a real big, dummyyyyyy!" :P
A bit later we started playing Street Fighter. I beat Trjn in one round, then never won again...
So we played that for a bit, then we got out trials again. Around this time a big conversation about children started, although I didn't hear much of it because I was concentrating on trials. Then they started talking about e3, which was funny because after a race, I would try and say something, but by the time I started talking, the next race had started, so I had to split my concentration a bit...which ended with me crashing a lot and missing bits of the conversation.
Not long after, nobshot had to leave, so everyone decided to walk him to the station. My dad was going to be there to pick me up sometime soon, and he probably wouldn't have appreciated me walking around Brisbane at night, which I told everyone. So Freyr and Strange stayed back to 'babysit' me while the others went and romped through rape park :P
Freyr and I played some more trials. Strange wouldn't, for some reason. She avoided that game like the plague, like the way Sughly avoided singing.
Not that long after, my dad showed up, and I had to go.
The end.
Soooo, when's the next meat? :D I have an idea of something we need to try out. 2 TVs, 2 Xboxes, 8 controllers and Minecraft. That could be pretty interesting. And fun too. :D
On Gigacross, I would be off screen (maybe you could see my head and/or shadow) as soon as I spawned from a checkpoint. It was only when I was the only person alive that I could really be seen and then as soon as I hit a checkpoint, I'd be pushed back offscreen again.
Custom tracks are probably best avoided.
next meat: Perth meat, everyone come to perth, we just got this new game called super mario bro's, we could all play it on our crt tv's!
Are you one of those fancy types that has a colour TV? You might be a bit too ritzy for me.
i am always up to datee with technology, of course i have a colour tv!
i also have a mobile phone, the latest model, the most sleek design available! Look at this picture of me with it!
Well laa-dee-daa, Mr Fancypants McRichface.
You're older than I was expecting you to be...
hahahahaha!
actually that's a good idea for you guys, have a "perth" meat were all you do is play games from the super nintendo era and back!
Include the N64 and I'm keen :D
Freyr and strange emasculating men since 2010, its cool lambo they would do the same to me. :) Glad you had fun buddy.
"Apparently Freyr had never seen the star wars movies before,"
OMG A KINDRED SPIRIT!!!!!!!!!!! ♥
She has seen the three that matter now! Theatrical release too because, dammit, I know how to show a girl a good time.
Now you need to be educated.

I HAS TEAM BACK NOW, WE HAS MORE FUNS THOUGH.
With the fairy bread, we were joking about it being crushed fairy souls while making it. Later on in the night when my housemates had wandered into the kitchen and people were playing Rock Band again, we were joking about the same thing and how it was how people celebrated the repression of their people (if you don't get it, I won't explain it :p).
Fairy bread is awesome.
Delicious crushed fairy souls.
So, I may need to make a trip down to Melbourne in the coming weeks, cause I may be buying a car from a dealership there.
What's wrong with Canberra cars? Also, i remember hearing something about a meat in Melb on the 21st of July.
It's a used car and it meets what I was looking for almost perfectly. The only Canberra-area one that came close was the same, minus bluetooth (which I can live with), and is $5000 more expensive. Still not sure why, cause it was a lower model, too...
Canberra tax.
I don't understand the Canberra Tax, I mean , we have to deal with politicians, surely that's taxing enough?
You can finally give Pixel his copy of Diablo 3.
Oh, I got that posted a while back...eventually.
My sister still registers her car in Melbourne and refuses to change
Good
morningafternoon everyone!Feeling much better today, but still sick. Based on the current improvement rate I should be back to normal tomorrow \o/
So yeah, Lord of the Rings Online tonight for anyone who is keen and has the client. Thinking an 8pm (AEST) start.
How is everyone? You meat writeups make me very jealous.
Good to hear you're feeling better!
My game client should be done by now, so as long as I don't have a crapload of updates on top of the Steam version I should be OK. Considering it came out on Steam on the 7th(?) that shouldn't happen.
Yes, I am keen to check it out a bit more!
I love the idea of people on TAY playing free to play games.
If the LOTR night is successful maybe we can take a dive into Steam's free to play library as well. Realm of the mad dog for example seems cool- http://store.steampowered.com/app/200210/
Best typo ever!
A fair few people have given that game a go, and at least 10+ people liked it, if I remember correctly.
Forgot to mention, I'm also a big supporter of getting more TAY into F2P games. The best part is (ignoring download limits) it's the best way to get people into games together without excluding individuals based on money they may or may not have.

Pick ya poison.
I think I currently have TF2, puzzle pirates, rusty hearts, DC universe and the mad dog install.
Would also be interested in checking out fallen earth at some stage.

RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNAAH!

Been listening to this.
Barrels of wine. Amazingly cruel if you're paying attention.
It's about a real person, that the band met while touring.
Last section of that song is the best.
Great song off of an otherwise meh album.
The Best of Times is my favourite off the album. Such a deeply personal song.
It's better than A Dramatic Turn of Events though.
I like A Dramatic Turn of Events. Feels much more like a Dream Theater album than Dark Clouds.
Best of Times and Shattered Fortress were great songs but the rest of the album just doesn't work and it doesn't tie together that well.
Awesome as Portnoy is (and was), after hearing Dramatic Turn of Events, it feels like having a major change like that has really helped. It's still not as good as Metropolis or Images and Words but it's good.
Just finished reading all the Oatmeal vs. FunnyJunk stuff.
Why don't people just source stuff correctly on these sites? I've been to places that don't source and it always frustrated me, cause I'd see something I like and want to see more, then go hunting for clues to what the site was. This happened with Cyanide and Happiness and The Oatmeal for me...
It's pretty amazing how far they'll go to steal this content.
Reddit is pretty bad, especially with everyone just rehosting on imgur but at least people make an effort to show the source (if only in comments). FunnyJunk seems to go out of their way to not cite sources. You (apparently) now can't search for The Oatmeal there or Cyanide and Happiness (but you can search for Cyanide and find many links with "happiness" included in the tags...).
Same with 9gag. It's one of the reasons I don't like it. They never make the source known. They have even removed watermarks and replaced it with their own.
I don't like any site that puts their watermark on someone else's content. 9gag is just yesterday's r/funny front page but without the source.
I liked 9gag about a year and a half ago, but with it's growing popularity, more and more stuff like that is coming into effect. Plus, eventually, seeing content on 5 different websites repeatedly gets a little tiring.
The watermark shit they've been pulling is the last nail in the coffin.
Hey dudes.
Work is crazy right now so no real contribution from me at all. Sucks really, but i'm completely out of the loop in here.
MokoTAYbikeu is still running but unless you follow me on twitter you will miss it. @fatshadylive. Still a good little competition going on in there but would like there to be a bit more rivalry going on (or maybe I dont see it? Also, I hear that the person on the leaderboard just above you was talking about your mum... so you know, show him who's good n stuff!. this weeks track is Moto Madness. Be sure to tell me who you are competing with!
Congrats to Batguy, Puppylicks and Lambo for winning stuff. Sughly also won a week, but then i sent him an autographed piece of procrastoonation so he should be happy!
Oh I also wrote up an article for the redlyynx guys on their blog and facebook so if you want to read about it, there should be a link posted around at some point.
Lastly, MAN that Amnesia.. seriously loving that game, such atmosphere. Only about 1-2 hours in and so damn great. Can't wait. I only play this game at like 10pm with all light off and headphones on and everyone asleep in the house.. I'd love to attach a heart rate monitor for a session.
Hope everyone is good, glad to hear that potaku is taking off and sounds great guys.
I really want to organise a session of trials Evo supercross in a private match so bailouts are enabled and get a party going... let me know when as im always on!
Sorry just blurting out all my thoughts into one confusing post. bye!
Nob MeatOld Man Nob MeatMeat of a NobMouth full of Nob MeatTitle Pending...
I decided to make the absolutely stupid decision to catch the train to get to the BrisMeat. I arrived at the train station at 1(ish) and got on the train. "So far so good, I haven't been mugged / stabbed / killed, so I am doing better then most people that catch the train in Queensland" I thought to myself. Shortly after this thought a bunch of kids got on the train and the coversations they had went something like this (talking to eachother) "Hey F---head, I saw this car near where we are getting off the train we should F---ing breaking into the C---"*. (*Note this is a toned down "clean" version of the conversation). Looking back I have no idea how I didn't get stabbed/shot/killed/mugged.
Anyway I made it to Fairfield Station and walked to Bunny's house/unit-complex-thingie. I walked up to door 8 (well I assumed it was door 8) and knocked on the door. I was told to come in and VERY (please note the word "very") awkwardly introduced myself. After intro's I sat down and watched the ending of Star Wars. I then played some Trials for the first time ever in my life and I got instantly hooked (thanks a lot Bunny), "bail-out" finishes are the most stupidly fun thing ever!
Eventually DAN and TLQ arrived. (after introductions) We continued to play more Trials then SOMEONE got the bright idea of downloading custom tracks. This caused Bunny's Xbox to kinda-sorta-die. I then think Strange and Welbot arrived. So with Trials dead we went to Rock Band, as the night progressed DAN got cranky at everyone for not "Rock Banding" while playing Rock Band. LAMBO seemed pretty keen to sing (especially "Poker Face") and I think I saw a hint of disappointment in his eyes when he realised there was no "Barbie Girl". It's OK LAMBO, maybe next time :( Also Sughly kind of appeared during the night while we were played Rock Band ... GOOD TIMES!.
Eventually we got food \o/! and I swear these ribs where from some kind of prehistoric animal that is now extinct. (Oh yeah those "La-de-da" fancy pants "vegetarian" people got some delicious looking food, although the lack of meat turned me off it). After the food it was back to Rock Band. Unfortunately Welbot had to leave /o\. In our crippling sorrow we turned to Street Fighter (which I failed to win one round at) and then back to Trials \o/!!!
After a couple of games I had to go, Bunny kindly offered to show me a shortcut and DAN/TLQ/Sughly came along for an adventure! Freyr and Strange stayed back with LAMBO because he is a babby (Just joking man :P). We managed to adventure through the "rape" Bridge / Park completely unscathed and we got to the Train Station. We all hugged and said goodbye, which when you catch the Gold Coast train is something along the lines of "Please don't get stabbed and/or shot Nobshot!".
THE END
*please insert token(s) to play again*
TL:DR
All in all it was an awesome night which I can sum-up as:
+++++++++ Got to meet some of the awesome TAYbies!!!
+ Got addicted to Trials (I assume it's good)
+ Didn't get thrown out of taxi / get sticky tape thrown at me by Freyr
+ Didn't get mugged/stabbed/shot on the train
+ Delicious Ribs from some kind of prehistoric monster
- Didn't get to drink (Cause I'm stupid and didn't plan ahead)
- Had to leave early (See above)
Prehistoric ribs were the best. I think we must have eaten mammoth ribs.
I HAven't done one of these in a while but
DUB STEP INTERLUDE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jxqh4soP_4U
I usually am not a massive fan of dubstep remixes of non electro songs but this is good, actually srtike that, this is pretty fantastic.It doesn't kill the original and it still sounds amazing. Hope you guys like it.
