seems like there could be some controversy here between international karate and way of the exploding fist. Can we have a volunteer from each camp to duke it out to see which is the official answer?

Its not IK+ because that was a Triple Threat. This is only a one on one match with Mr Miyagi sitting in the background giving you points.
From memory can't be ik+ as the water was behind the fight so I'll go for last ninja
